The Hale Cocoa Farm is a working farm with 2000 coffee trees, 1000 cocoa trees, 500 White Pineapple and various Polynesian "canoe plants." This tour is 1.5-2 hours long where we explore Hawaiian plants, coffee, pineapples and then focus on cacao/cocoa. Visitors will open cocoa pods, try local pineapples and sip coffee varietals. They will finish with a tasting of 5-7 chocolates made from cocoa beans of varying Big Island regions. $25-$35

Our express 1 hour walking tour of the upper cacao orchard, coffee trees, and developing spice trees focuses on what makes Kona. Learn how cacao, coffee and tropical spice trees (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, etc) grow in Hawaii.
Then we go to the chocolate tent to open a cacao pod and taste some Kona coffee and varying crafted chocolates. $18-$22.

Hale Cocoa
Hale Kokoleka = House of Chocolate in Hawaiian and this spot is the future flagship of Puna Chocolate Company. The building itself is nearly 80 years old and has served the community of Kainaliu at the entrance of Southern Kona in a wide range of capacities from Theater rehearsal to car repair garage.
The Farm
The real jewel of the Hale Cocoa is the 14 acres of farmland in the back which we have planted out into a 8 acre park for guests to learn about Hawaiian agriculture and island plants, and then Kona Coffee varietals (Typica, Gesha, Pointu, Mokka, and more) and of course, cacao! The remaining acreage is dedicated to reforesting the pastureland into coffee and cacao orchards.
